Photographing swimwear…outside in the UK…at the start of spring…when there have been gale force winds…praying for sunshine!
On 24th April Solpardus ventured across to St Mawes for our first shoot of 2026
Welcome to a day with me {Freya} running a shoot for my bamboo swimwear business!
8:00am
Emilia {our gorgeous model} and I set off to catch the King Harry Ferry from Feock across to the Roseland Penninsula. We were greeted by this stunning morning view. After a week of gale force winds and overcast skies I was beyond thrilled!
Once we got to St Mawes we had a coffee pit stop at The Idle Rocks hotel before meeting up with our photographer Rhona {Goodrest Studios}
10:00AM
The wind hadn’t completely vanished as we started shooting on the first few beaches, but by the time we had wandered along the coast the sun warmed and everything calmed ~ and the gentle breeze that was left made for excellent hairography!
11:30AM
The wonderful Hotel Tresanton was our next location, with its incredible decking area and backdrop of St Anthony Head and blue sea ~ felt a lot more like the Mediterranean than Cornwall!
12:00AM
Down to yet another different beach, with the midday sun really bringing summer to April
Having been chief bag-lady/stylist/navigator and already racking up an impressive number of steps, I decided we were in much need of some sustenance! So we headed back to The Idle Rocks for lunch, which also served as another glorious backdrop
1:30PM
Our final beach of the day and by golly was it perfect…did exactly what it said on the tin!
With the sun hotting up, Emilia was even brave enough to take a dip in the crystal clear water ~ in classic British style I was informed “it’s alright once you’re in”
3:15PM
Finally, having deposited the majority of the cargo back in the car, we hurried to catch the St Mawes Ferry over to Falmouth ~ where I then said goodbye to the rest of the day’s team and did an about turn back to St Mawes to rescue the car!
5:00PM
After a mooch around the shops, and a big sigh of relief that the weather had been semi-tropical and we hadn’t all blown away, I meandered back to the car and awaited the return of the car ferry
I emptied the car at home, zipped inside to pack up the orders that had come in whilst I was out and zipped out again to the post office ~ only to return home and collapse in a very exhausted but ridiculously happy heap!
What a gorgeous day and what a stunning shoot…!
